Please God. Please tell me that my sense of sarcasm has taken a dip down the Holy Ganges and that this was intended as a joke!

(By the way, EC No 69 – lol. This must be a joke)

I realized that I have just been hanging out with a helluva bad girls all my life… what a waste?!!.. šŸ˜‰

On a serious note, some more background on this…

    From BBC:
So was the image created by a team of professional campaigners trying to generate traffic? Not exactly. It was drawn up by a group of students at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore. The group, who are mixed male and female, were asked to juxtapose images from popular culture as part of a piece of homework.

It looks like sarcasm to me …. but there are lots of people I know who actually think like this.
When we were growing up, my relatives used to tell me and my sister we shouldn’t be driving, wearing skirts, or laughing out loud. And there were so many other rules – like always sitting carefully, heck even sleeping carefully with arms and legs close to body! You can’t ever relax and be yourself – even in your sleep – you’re still thinking about log kya kahenge?

I’ve tried to make her see sense, but it just tires me out. Last day she was educating me about why she had to spend x amount on her daughter’s marriage or the Gods wouldn’t accept the wedded couple! How do I argue to that?

            • A regular Indian girl! says:

You just don’t! You pray to the same God to help her with x amount less in her kitty!! Some people just don’ get it. We had a domestic help few years back and her daughter really loved studying. My sister used to give her lessons while her mom worked. That lady left our work and told my mom “your daughter is ruining my daughter’s life. In our community, girls get married at 15 and she is already 14. Your daughter is making my daughter dream” How can you ever make sense to them? You just pray that her daughter understands if her daughter were to want to study, right?

Btw, that girl got married at 15 and right now, she has a son and a daughter. At I guess 20.
